Circa 1954: 'Fjord IV', a sistership to 'Truca II' which finished 2nd overall in class and fleet in the 1954 Newport Bermuda Race. These 38ft light displacement downwind flyers offended the eye of Alfred Loomis from 'Yachting' magazine who wrote:
'Truca II' (and Fjord IV) is a light-displacement box, 38ft OA. In overall length, only four boats in the entire fleet were shorter, but like an unsuccessful candidate for a beauty prize, 'Trcua' was big in all the wrong places and rated 6th from top in Class D. Be that as it may, this Argentine sloop placed second in class and fleet, highlighting a joint design record (no previous designer had ever had three prize-winning yachts in the race) that has not been approached, let alone bettered by any overseas entries.'
